KAIJU GUIDE

Overview

Rooster Fighter features a rotating cast of kaiju — giant monsters of various types threatening Japan. Unlike many kaiju series, the monsters here are rarely given backstory or motivation. They appear, they threaten, they are defeated. The comedy lives in the gap between how seriously the show treats the threat and how quickly it ends.

This guide covers all Season 1 kaiju in order of appearance.

Season 1 Kaiju

Kaiju #1 — Bay Crawler

• Episode: 1
• Location: Tokyo Bay
• Size: ~500 meters
• Type: Aquatic / Reptilian
• Notable: First kaiju of the series. Unnamed in the anime; "Bay Crawler" is the manga designation. Defeated by Cock-a-Doodle Shockwave. The defining meme of Episode 1 is the expression on its face during the finishing move.

Kaiju #2 (Off-screen)

• Episode: Between 1 and 2
• Details: Implied by Kaiju #3's numbering. Never depicted. Fan speculation about its nature is extensive.

Kaiju #3 — Mountain Centipede

• Episode: 2
• Location: Nagano mountains
• Size: ~400 meters (length)
• Type: Subterranean / Arthropod
• Notable: 100 legs. Rooster defeated all of them in sequence. The montage took three minutes. The traditional flute music used in the montage became a fan-favorite audio clip.

Inferno Drake

• Episode: 3
• Location: Osaka
• Size: ~2km wingspan
• Type: Aerial / Draconic
• Notable: Largest kaiju by wingspan. The first evidence of Rooster's sustained flight ability. Fire immunity (Rooster's, not the Drake's) never explained.

Terra Worm

• Episode: 4
• Location: Tokyo (underground)
• Size: Unknown (subsurface)
• Type: Subterranean / Geological
• Notable: First kaiju defeated by indirect means. Its core was, essentially, a very large egg. This is not addressed by the narrative.

Unnamed Water Kaiju

• Episode: 5
• Location: Kyoto
• Size: ~300 meters
• Type: Aquatic
• Notable: Defeated in under 8 minutes — fastest defeat of the season. The episode's focus was elsewhere.

Glacier

• Episode: 6
• Location: Hokkaido
• Size: Diffuse (environmental)
• Type: Elemental / Ice
• Notable: The only kaiju to make Rooster visibly uncomfortable. Cold Rooster is one of the series' most beloved images.

Miasma

• Episode: 8
• Location: Fukuoka
• Size: City-scale (gaseous)
• Type: Biological / Gas
• Notable: First non-physical kaiju. First kaiju Rooster chose to redirect rather than directly fight. Defeated through compression and artillery coordination.

Triarch (×3)

• Episode: 10
• Location: Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya (simultaneous)
• Size: ~600 meters each
• Type: Networked / Collective
• Notable: Three bodies, one consciousness. Required Rooster to fight across three cities simultaneously. The episode where he first visibly bleeds.

Omega Kaiju

• Episode: 11–12
• Location: Pacific Ocean / coastal Japan
• Size: ~3 kilometers
• Type: Unknown / Extinction-class
• Notable: Largest kaiju in Season 1. Defeated by 47-second sustained Cock-a-Doodle Shockwave. Its remains are now an island chain.
